Finery & FestivalA 3-day wedding during COVID
When Samara & Garry starting planning their 3-day festival wedding in Bordeaux, little did they know they would be doing it under COVID-19.
Their journey started as any other, with lots of calls, chatting through their ideas, concerns and getting to know what made them tick.
Garry is a DJ and music producer so music is really important to them. They met at a music festival so had the idea of a festival wedding. However… their chosen venue, was not exactly a typical setting for a festival. Samara also likes a bit of glamour and when she shared her Pinterest board it was obvious that she had been influenced by the elegance of the venue.
As ideas were thrown around Samara also added “I know it sounds odd but would like to see a bit of black in there too!” Now not everyone associates black with a wedding, and bringing in the now key elements of festival, lots of music, gold, black, oh… and a taste of France, into one weekend was going to be a challenge, but Claire and I got our heads together and split the themes out over the 3 days and “Le Lovebox Festival” was born.
Day 1 - French Bistro & Wine Tasting
The COVID-19 pandemic hit in early March, but Samara and Garry were determined to hold out to see if their wedding could go ahead. So when it fell into the season when things opened back up, it was full steam ahead.
Guests of course were cautious and the group being just 60 people kept to their own bubble from the minute they arrived. So what better way to welcome everyone to sunny South West France and a wedding on a vineyard, than a casual bistro style evening with a food truck offering regional specialities, guided tours of the vineyard, tastings of their wines and a goodie bag to set the festival tone for the weekend.
Day 2 - Gold & Black Wedding
The wedding day was a reflection of Samara’s desire for a bit of glamour, picking out the elegance of the venue, but with that hint of black.
Gold, off whites, light oranges and hints of black were used across the day in the flowers, linen, table setting, stationery and even the catering team and cocktail musicians all embraced the style.
Day 3 - Farewell Festival
The weekend celebrations were by no means over. The Friday before the wedding the UK government had announced quarantine measures for returning travellers, so everyone was up for having a blast before returning to 14 days confinement at home. Just as well, as Samara and Garry’s plans for the Sunday really got the festival spirit going.
The scene had been changed from glamour to country festival, with bunting, deck chairs, bouncy castles, ice creams cart, hog roast, garden games and of course poolside DJ. The fun and games went on all day and culminated in a huge pizza delivery as guests enjoyed watching the sun set on their French adventure.
Congratulations Samara and Garry
