Wedding Stories

Intimate, Best of Bordeaux Wedding with Ballet

PART ONE - GATSBY NIGHT

There’s so much to share this story is in two parts!

Michele and Rick only wanted a small, intimate wedding with their closest family and friends but they wanted to show off the very best of Bordeaux to create a truly memorable experience and share their love of music and dancing.

They initially contacted us for a venue search and after a couple of weeks of reviewing high end venues, we secured them a date at a the Historic Grand Cru Chateau.

Whilst they had big aspirations for their wedding day, being very busy professionals in Canada they asked us to organise this 4-day celebration that was to include ballet dancers from the Royal Ballet, London

Day 1 - WELCOME DRINKS IN BORDEAUX

Following a long day travelling from the US and Canada guests arrived at their Bordeaux hotels in need of a little pick me up.

We arranged the privatisation of a top hotel’s roof top terrace that has views over the city.  A selection of cocktail and nibbles were served and guests relaxed and broke the ice as the sun set over the city.

Day 2 - GATSBY NIGHT

Having settled in and enjoyed a day in Bordeaux, taking in the sights, guests were invited to dress up in flapper dresses, spats and caps for a black and white Gatsby Night at the Historic Grand Cru Chateau.

As the number were small it was hosted in the French garden and the dining room overlooking the ‘Chai Barrique’.

Stylist Jenny and her team set up 1920’s style table setting, a photobooth, a bar and musicans’ backdrop.

Guests arrived by coach and walked up a black carpet and were welcomed by a speech from Rick complete with the ‘sabering’ of the champagne bottle and champagne fountain.

Canapés were passed and signature cocktails were served by the ‘Flair Barman’ for adults and kids alike.

Michele was an ex professional dancer so music and dancing featured heavily with three ‘Flapper Girls’ performing three dances throughout the meal, with musical interludes by a Vintage band.

The number may have been small but great fun was had by all and everyone got up and had a go at the Charleston!

As guests relaxed on the coach back to Bordeaux the excitement was building for the wedding day and what entertainment would be in store.
